Catalgr is a web app that helps vinyl and CD collectors digitize and organize their physical music collections. Using AI-powered image recognition, you can scan album covers or barcodes to automatically catalog your collection with accurate data from Discogs.
While you can scan and store albums locally without a Discogs account, connecting your Discogs account is highly recommended. It provides accurate catalog data, pricing information, and allows you to sync your collection with Discogs. You can create a free Discogs account at discogs.com.
Simply sign up for a free account, connect your Discogs account via our secure OAuth integration, and start scanning your albums! Your first 10 scans per month are free. You can upgrade to Basic or Pro plans for more scans and features.
Currently, we offer a mobile-responsive web app that works great on phones and tablets. You can access your collection from any browser and use your phone's camera to scan albums. Native iOS and Android apps are on our roadmap for the future.
Scanning & AI
The AI achieves 85-95% accuracy depending on image quality. For best results, take clear, well-lit photos of the album cover or barcode. If the AI doesn't find the right match, you can manually search Discogs or switch between search methods (barcode, catalog number, title, or artist).
Yes! On mobile devices, you'll see both "Upload Photo" and "Take Photo" buttons. The camera option lets you photograph albums directly without saving to your gallery first. The web app automatically compresses images for fast uploads.
If the AI doesn't find the correct album, you have several options: try switching search methods (barcode → catalog number → title → artist), manually search Discogs by typing in details, or browse through the paginated results to find the right match. You always have full control over what gets added to your collection.
Yes, each image analysis counts toward your monthly scan quota, even if you don't add the album to your collection. This is because the AI processing happens immediately when you upload an image. Choose your images carefully to make the most of your scans.
Discogs Integration
No, your existing Discogs collection is not automatically imported. You add items to our app by scanning or searching, and we can then sync them to your Discogs collection. This keeps your data clean and gives you control over what gets cataloged. If there's enough demand, we may add import functionality in the future.
Yes! When you add an album to your collection, you can choose to automatically sync it to your Discogs collection. You can select which Discogs folder to add to, and set the media and sleeve conditions. You can also enable/disable auto-sync in your preferences.
Currently, condition changes made in the app automatically sync to Discogs if you have auto-sync enabled. Other changes are one-way from Discogs to the app when you add albums. Full two-way sync is being considered for future updates.
Go to Settings > Discogs Integration and click "Disconnect Account". This will remove your OAuth tokens from our system. Your collection data in our app will remain intact, but you won't be able to add new items from Discogs until you reconnect.

Account & Security
Yes. We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, bcrypt password hashing, JWT authentication with token rotation, and AES-256 encryption for OAuth tokens. We never share your personal data or collection information with third parties (except Discogs for integration and LemonSqueezy for payments).
If you cancel your subscription, you'll be downgraded to the Free tier and can still access your collection with limited scans. If you delete your account, you can export your collection to CSV first. Account data is retained for 30 days after deletion, then permanently removed.
Yes! You can export your entire collection to CSV format anytime from the Collection page. The export includes all album details, conditions, notes, tags, and pricing data. This ensures you always own your data.
Go to Settings > Account and click "Delete Account". You'll be asked to confirm, and we recommend exporting your collection first. Once deleted, your data will be permanently removed after 30 days.
No. Images you upload are sent to OpenAI for analysis but are not stored or used for training by OpenAI per their API terms. We only store the extracted text data (artist, album, etc.) in our database along with the album metadata from Discogs.
Technical Support
We support all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your browser. Mobile browsers on iOS and Android are fully supported.
Images are automatically compressed to under 5MB. If uploads fail, try: 1) Using a different image format (JPG works best), 2) Checking your internet connection, 3) Ensuring browser permissions for file uploads are enabled. On mobile, make sure camera permissions are granted.
First, try clearing your browser cookies and cache. If you forgot your password, use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page. If issues persist, check that cookies are enabled in your browser settings, or contact support.
Price data is automatically fetched from Discogs when you add an album. To update prices for your existing collection, go to the Collection page and click "Update All Prices". Prices include median, low, and high values based on recent marketplace sales.
Free tier: Email support (48-hour response) and documentation. Basic tier: Email support (24-hour response) and video tutorials. Pro tier: Priority email support (4-hour response) and live chat during business hours.
